Kamal’s new wheels will be fitted to his brand new Felt IA TT bike with Dura-Ace Di2 when he’s not racing on the stock Zipp 404/808 clincher combo.
The brief was simple: fast, solid and wide for training use so his fancy carbon race wheels didn’t get a hammering. The rims needed to be as close as possible to the Zipp rim width for easy wheel changes before race day.
I chose the Boyd Altamont rims because they fitted the bill in terms of width but also have a great ‘U’ shaped profile to them, not to mention the fact that they are super stiff and look great! Hope RS Mono hubs were the obvious hubs with stainless bearings and UK manufacture. Finally went with Sapim CX-Ray spokes for strength and overall reliability.
